Manufacturer Refinement

Hi all!  I wanted to let you know where things stand with the project.  Things are going along well and there has been some back and forth with the manufacturer about the exact specifications of the outside design of the box.  Between Chinese New Year and the designer having a family issue related to Covid, the back and forth delays have been less than ideal.  Below is a sneak peek at the final art for the cover of the box.  Now we're on to making sure the rulebook pages can be read clearly, fit the form factor of the printing press, etc.  After that, we're in the home stretch.

Happy new year all!  Here's the Update on Dawn...

I sent some files over to to the manufacturer last week to verify that they are all in the correct format for manufacturing.  They wrote back that their team will be getting back to me this Wednesday.  If the files are perfect then I'm going to have the new graphic designer I hired a few weeks ago convert the files I've created so far into the preferred format.  This should only take a few days.  One of the reasons (pretty much the only reason) I hired the new graphic designer is to speed things up, and they have proven to be fast.

I'm hoping the manufacturer will have everything they need in a few weeks.

The good news is the supply chain nightmare that's been causing severe delays and sky-high prices is looking like it's finally easing up.  I can't keep people waiting for this game for perfect (or even reasonable) conditions.  It needs to get out the door.  Expect a much more aggressive approach from me in the coming weeks to get you the game without completely breaking the bank.

Hi all!  Sorry for the delayed update, I was hoping to have some good news for you before giving an update.  The manufacture of the game is still going along quite well, but the supply chain issues that are plaguing most industries continue to persist.  I was hoping that the shipping prices and delays would get better the closer we got to Christmas (because most stores have their inventory by now) but they haven't.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (clearly) but I'm guessing at this rate the games will be shipping in January, not this month.

If anyone wants a refund for their purchase I would totally understand.  Just reach out to me at [email protected] and I'll take care of it.  Otherwise, the game itself looks great and I think you'll really be pleased with the final results.

Hi all!  Here's this past two month's update.

Update

A quick update since several of you have asked to know where things are in the project.  I got back the final quote from the manufacturer two weeks ago along with the details on what the box files need to look like in order for Dawn to sit evenly on the shelf with Darkness (part of the set).  I continue to work away at getting the final files over to the manufacturer as soon as I can without sacrificing quality.  As soon as the last ones get sent over (box, mat, etc. files) I will send out an update.

Shipping

Global shipping continues to be an issue complete with much higher costs, delays, supply issues, and lost products.  In order to avoid all that I'm trying to time things such that we can place packages in the mail in the gap when Christmas shipping is waning and the Chinese holidays are gearing up.  That's looking more like mid-December.  We'll see in the coming weeks if supply lines smooth out.  I will keep you all posted on that front.

Hello all!  Sorry for the delayed July update, I hate sending out updates cluttering up people's email box without having a lot of interesting things to say.  There has been activity on Dawn, mostly around dealing with the logistics of getting you the game, setting things up for billing in BackerKit, making adjustments to the game elements based on unlocked backer goals, and overall just moving things forward with the manufacturer.

I appreciate your patience in waiting for this update and it seems like people just want to know the project is continuing forward at a good pace even though there's not a lot of new news to share.

Some highlights...

BackerKit

Of the 919 people I sent the request to verify their address, 799 did so.  I'm still waiting for 120 people to verify their shipping addresses.  If BackerKit allows me to verify them again in the fall I'll do so.  People move,   situations change, etc.

Quite a few people purchased add ons.  Thank you!  99 people purchased Darkness, and 67 people purchased the playmat.  That was really great!!  Darkness is a wonderful game I'm sure you'll enjoy and the playmat's going to be great.  I'm looking forward to using the finished version myself.

Next Steps

The next steps for the project are to continue to prepare the files for manufacture.  I'm still in the process of this and it's painstaking work.  I want to make sure everything is just right for the finished product - including the secret content and promotional cards.  Once I've sent the first version of the files to the manufacture I'll let you all know.

I played Dawn again with some friends last weekend and it was their first time playing it.  They loved it and said it was, "an excellent game".  I can't wait for you all to try it too.
